Little Sartoria is a creative workshop, handcrafting clothes from vintage embroidered textiles.
My name is Monica Nicoletti and I’m the founder of the Company.
I was born in Rimini, the daughter of a traditional Italian seamstress.
I started my career as a fashion designer, working for major Italian brands like Alberta Ferretti, Alessandro dell’Acqua , Blumarine and others.
I relocated to NYC in 1992 where I continued to work in the fashion industry as Senior Designer and Design Director for American companies like DKNY, Theory, Club Monaco and Ralph Lauren.
After more than a decade of collaborations with international brands, I decided to combine my industry experience with my passion for fashion and make myself heard. Wandering around vintage flea markets has always been part of my life and it’s now become an important part of my work.
This new chapter in my life with Little Sartoria is to reinvent a range of clothes from old, beautifully embroidered textiles. My source for antique fabrics, tablecloths, doilies, linens and curtains are small flea markets located mainly in Apulia (south of Italy) where I now live.
In this part of Italy, there’s a very old tradition in hand-embroidered fabrics and I am fortunate to have the help of experienced local ladies who cut and sew my collections for me. In doing this, I believe I also contribute to keeping this important Italian and Apulian tradition alive.
My women’s’ and children’s collections are unique and each piece is numbered.
With their modern cut and the addition of new materials, old embroidered textiles come to a second and very contemporary life.
